The new restaurant opened in the centre of Bucharest City last week. There was not much fuss about it, but the news spread quickly, word of mouth, among those people who know how to set the fashion to the newest and coolest places in town.

I “visited” La Cantine de Nicolai myself. It’s a part of Paris, I’d say, because everything you see, eat and hear makes you think there. After I had been welcomed by one of the hostesses with a French accent, a very nice lady, I sat at the bar for a drink before dinner. While I noticed I was present in an art gallery – restaurant. It was from Paris that they brought the pop art details, works of art and books about the artists who conceived them: Ivan Messac, Peter Klasen, Eric Liot, F C Sofia. I took a glimpse at the menu and found out that all the ingredients are brought from France and that in charge of the food is the head-cook from Plaza Athenne, Alain Ducasse’s restaurant from Paris, whom you can see on the job anytime if you’re curious.
